The building’s massing provides an identity and presence along the City’s visible highway 52, while allowing for daylight harvesting through grand north-facing windows. The masonry envelope provides a feeling of security and safety – a civic space – balanced by ample daylight and views. The massing sheds down at the south to a pedestrian scale at the main entry and the roof awaits a future photo-voltaic installation. The HVAC is a high-efficiency geothermal system.
The interior space is organized with staffing points and offices near the main entrance. As you enter the library, the large main adult collection moves in a linear progression to the enclosed Children’s room. New large meetings rooms spill out onto a patio with opportunities for outdoor programming and connection to a walking path and a nearby assisted living community.
