The recently completed project at BPL included updated technology, lighting, mechanical systems, new and flexible furniture, more varied spaces for patrons’ choosing, and new views to the exterior. Massive new windows now frame the building’s entrance, but were only possible by using high-efficiency windows. Triple-pane windows reduce solar heat gain without compromising visible light transmittance. This allows the library save on long-term energy costs for years to come by increasing natural light while reducing the cost to heat and cool the space. All these details matter when it comes to functionality and the bottom line.
