Bloomfield School District

The Bloomfield School District serves a community in Southern Indiana on one campus that houses all k-12 grades. When the school district engaged with krM in 2018, our team carried out a feasibility study of the 211,000 square feet building and 17-acre site to evaluate the needs and assess conditions to improve the educational environment and maintain their facilities. This also included assessment of their 80-acre sports complex off-site of their main campus. The results of that study informed the construction project that our team began with Bloomfield in the summer of 2021 and 2022.

As part of the study, it was also determined that a new gym space was needed, along with a secure high school and middle school entry. These were incorporated into an addition that was built onto the northwest corner of the building. This promotes the identity of the school by way of visibility to the street and exterior improvements including branding.

Our design work also included streamlining the flow of the site traffic to solve safety issues that were present with the bus/drop-off system.

The elementary had all thirty classrooms painted, new casework flooring, and plumbing remodeled in a single summer. New furniture and desks for these classrooms were a vital part of this refresh. The offices were expanded and a new canopy for students and parents was installed to clearly separate the elementary entrance.

Because of the hills of Southern Indiana, the project also included a bus and transportation re-configuration to allow buses, students, and parents to have an amiable before-and-after school experience.
