Our team at krM Architecture has partnered with the Avon Public Library over many years, supporting both transformative renovations and additions as well as ongoing facility updates to keep pace with evolving design standards and library services.

Building on this longstanding partnership, in 2025 the library initiated the Huron Hall project—named in honor of a benefactor whose family has demonstrated enduring generosity and civic involvement within the Avon community. Informed by trends at peer libraries and the proven success of similar spaces, our team helped shape the vision for a 4,700-square-foot, large-capacity community program room that expands the library’s ability to serve as a flexible gathering space.

Expanded Program Area

The space is designed to accommodate a wide range of uses, including banquets, lectures, demonstrations, and other large-scale community programs. Supporting spaces include a 15-person boardroom-style meeting room, along with a catering kitchen and dedicated storage areas to ensure flexibility and ease of use.

Thoughtful Addition

Huron Hall is conceived as an addition connected to the existing library through a vestibule—carefully integrated with the current facility while establishing a distinct identity of its own. The result is an inviting, visually engaging presence that signals activity and welcomes the community inside.

This effort also included targeted furniture and shelving upgrades within the main library, enhancing functionality and aligning the overall environment with the library’s evolving service model.
