krM Architecture’s work at Greencastle High School improved school safety and provide additional needed space with an expansion that connected the McAnally Athletic Center to the High School. This connection offers hubs for student athletic and academic function, and is also utilized by the community. Breakout spaces provide students comfortable seating areas to study in between school, practices, performances, games, and other extracurricular activities, in a secure environment branded with school pride.

Community Pride

This also created a public-facing entry and gathering area that welcomes parents and community members to school functions with a sense of pride that now properly represents Greencastle School’s commitment to a modern and exceptional education for all.

Modern Learning Environments

While the project at the high school was the most visibly transformative, krM’s work across Greencastle schools has spanned five years and touched every school in the system with varying levels of improvement. This work has elevated and diversified the spaces where high quality twenty-first-century learning takes place. Security improvements were made across all schools, as well as efficiency of energy consumption.

Note: krM Architecture started working with the Greencastle Community School Corporation in 2020 over a period of five months to provide a facilities assessment of all five academic buildings in their corporation as well as their athletic center (over 500,000 SF in total).
