OUR WORK
The Varsity Lofts

The Varsity building is an adaptive infill project that has given new life to a challenging site in the Old Northside neighborhood of Indianapolis. It was originally a one-story building that was home to the Varsity Lounge, a bar that held important significance as a social hub in its heyday. Unfortunately, the building had fallen into disrepair for over ten years until a small group of investors, led by krM leadership, purchased the building in 2019 and put it on the path to what it is today.

Mixed Use

krM Architecture moved its Indianapolis Studio to the first floor of the building, and the upper two floors are occupied by unique, high-quality apartments. Residents access their units through a unique elevated courtyard on the second floor which provides a peaceful outdoor space and connection to nature.

History

The site of the Varsity Lofts building was once home to the ‘Varsity Lounge’ – a prominent LGBTQ social hub in Indianapolis. The name of the building was kept to respect that history.
