Congratulations to the City of Anderson on the grand opening of the new Transit Station. The City of Anderson had been advocating for this transit project over many years and across several mayoral administrations. Over that time, our team was involved as an advisor to the project since its early stages – helping to study different sites, the needs and impacts of a potential new multi-modal hub for local and regional bus transit routes, and potential future mass transit opportunities.
The new 17,000-square-foot multi-model transit hub defines the northern edge of downtown Anderson and creates a new community amenity. The Transit Center serves as the new hub for local and regional bus transit routes. Taking cues from the grand, civic transit centers found in historic urban centers across the country, the building’s interiors offers tall volumes of well-daylit space. The design of the building seeks to offer a dynamic pedestrian experience. It is scaled similarly to its existing, surrounding buildings and was constructed with high quality materials, limestone, and terra cotta. The building serves two main
